Softbox
A large, fabric-covered lighting modifier that creates soft, diffused light by bouncing and spreading the light source through a translucent front panel.
What is Softbox?
Softboxes are the most common lighting modifier for product photography. They create the soft, even, shadow-free lighting characteristic of professional studio product shots. Larger softboxes create softer light with more gradual shadow transitions; smaller softboxes create harder light with more defined shadows. Octagonal softboxes ('octoboxes') are popular for producing especially even, wrap-around light.
